^ NEW MONUMENT AT THE WF PUBLIC DOCK
 Fun at the Dock:
Picture
GUEST MOORING:  New Last Year:  The new mooring is located across from the West end of the public dock, draw a line perpendicular to the dock, going out approx. 75 ft, and you will see a mooring ball marked "FHM".  This mooring is good for boats up to 32 ft .  Depth at avg. low tide is 6 ft. **** Reservations MUST be made by using Dockwa.com .  $ 45.00 per night is the charge, considerably less than other facilities in the area.
Maximum stay is 5 nights ( If off for 2 days following a 5 day stay, we allow another 5 days stay).  On at Noon first day, off by Noon the last day.  Soon the mooring will have a decal on it with the above telephone #.  Staying overnight on the boat is fine.  THIS IS OPEN TO MEMBERS AND NON-MEMBERS.  Security will be performed by our West Fal. BC Security Patrol, managed, staffed and funded by WF Boat Club.
SECOND GUEST MOORING:  For power boats, or swing or pull keels with shallow draft (20" at low tide).  Same reservation and fee info as above.

MOORING PERMITS:   The WFBC does not issue or maintain permanent mooring permits.  This is totally handled and controlled by the Town of Falmouth Harbor Master.   WFBC does have one, transient, short term club mooring for use by anybody, member or not. 5/17/16:  Now no longer available,  please see the info below
Be sure that you renew your town issued mooring permits, usually required by the Harbor Master in January each year.  We will post here this year's requirement once we get that info from the Harbor Master. You can LOSE your mooring permit for non payment, or late payment.  Mooring Wait List:      A point to keep in mind:  Note that your name must be on your mooring ball as well as its number...In checking with the Harbormaster, 1" min. size is required, and even a handwritten  name with an indelible ink pen would be acceptable.
Also be sure to renew your standing on this list, or you will be dropped.

***STUDY OF CONVENTIONAL MOORING IMPACT ON EEL GRASS***
The Massachusetts Division of Fisheries has received a federal grant to study the impact of conventional moorings (anchor and chain) on EXISTING eelgrass zones.  The two harbors being studied are ours and Manchester.  There will be 5-8 moorings voluntarily converted at no cost to the owner to a "conservation  mooring".  This is a mooring consisting of screwing an auger type rod into the bottom  and attaching a non-scouring, flexible line supported  by a float buoy.  There are several different systems available.
Such conservation moorings are now in use locally at Marion, Chatham, Tisbury(Vineyard Haven), and Lake Tashmoo.
This study is being conducted by Tay Evans, Marine Fisheries Biologist, and daughter of Jay and Hasty Evans from West Falmouth. She may be contacted directly at    tay.evans@state.ma.us
I have talked with Gregg Fraser, Harbor Master, about this and the Army Corp of Engineer Regs about eelgrass and moorings..He is hopeful that if this study shows it helps preserve and reestablish eelgrass, it will assist in bringing our harbor back to health...also with the new restrictions and monitoring of the Waste Water Treatment Plant.
I will try to keep the West Falmouth Boat Club members informed as more information is available.

Thank you, Peter Partridge, President, WFBC

Club Info

The West Falmouth Boat Club is a volunteer association of boat owners dedicated to the improvement of recreational boating in West Falmouth Harbor, area ecology, teen boating safety courses, liaison with Town officials, a guest mooring,  and dinghies at the public dock. The Boat Club finances and manages a security patrol team that patrols the harbor each night in the summer.  We have donated over $ 10,000 to WF Harbor nitrate pollution resolution along with endless hours of top legal and ecological expertise of several of our directors.  Your membership
also supports all of the above activities.   You do not need to be a boat owner to support or benefit these variegated concerns and community benefits.
